- Walking from the Ticket Center Hohenschwangau to Neuschwanstein Castle takes 30 to 40 minutes on the castle's directions page. Walking is free. The horse carriage takes about 20 minutes, followed by 10 to 15 minutes uphill on foot.
- The shuttle bus costs €3.50 up or €5 return on the Ticket Center's transport page; the horse carriage costs €8 up or €4 down. The shuttle bus takes about 15 minutes, then a steep path leads 15 minutes down to the castle. Bus and carriage have no timetable or reservations.
- The Ticket Center's FAQ permits regular size backpacks and handbags inside Neuschwanstein Castle, excluding bulky luggage. The Ticket Center's family page allows prams in courtyard storage. The castle's visitor information page prohibits photography inside the castle.
- Moderate fitness is required for this tour, and infant seats are available. Cancellation at least 24 hours before departure qualifies for a full refund. Your lunch and restaurant drinks cost extra.
- Snow or ice stops the shuttle bus; the Marienbrücke page also describes winter bridge closures. Castle tours continue when the bridge is closed. Your route must still allow for the walk.

From the operator
In Mikes Bike Tours Munich's own words, from the listing.
Our private tours are led by a small, dedicated team of local native English-speaking guides. We don't just drive you between landmarks; we provide the context, history & local perspective that a guidebook can’t. With us, you get a "Local" for the day, not just a driver.
We are the only operator to cross the border into Austria for lunch (optional of course). We skip the crowded tourist traps in favor of a local restaurant serving locally sourced products. It’s a quiet, authentic midday break with great food.
Whether you want to dive deep into history, find the best photo ops, or discover "off-the-map" local spots, we adjust the route in real-time to suit you.
We also help you secure difficult-to-get entry tickets—like Neuschwanstein—saving you from the stress (Castle tickets are not incl. in the price of the tour).
Booking with Mike's means an stress-free, high-value journey whilst maximising your day.
