The rooms
Neuschwanstein Castle's throne room, the Throne Hall, was added to the plans in 1881. The castle's building history page explains why the later addition needed a steel frame. Plaster covers the steel construction.
Neuschwanstein Castle's Singers' Hall combines designs from 2 Wartburg halls: the Singers' Hall and Festival Hall. The hall at the castle was not intended for performances or festivals.
The castle's bedroom contains Ludwig II's oak bed, carved by Anton Pössenbacher. The bedroom and adjoining chapel were designed in the late Gothic style.
Neuschwanstein Castle's grotto dates from a change to the plans in 1880. The small artificial cave had coloured electric lighting and a waterfall. You pass the grotto between the Salon and Study. The Venus Grotto belongs to Linderhof Palace.
