The rules

Can I change or cancel Neuschwanstein Castle tickets?

The Ticket Center's FAQ rules out changing or returning Neuschwanstein Castle online tickets, including the €23.50 adult ticket. The restriction covers the date, tour time or language. Combination tickets must be used on one visit date.

Pass holders still need a timed ticket to enter the castle and pay the €2.50 online fee. Choose 'Free Adult Annual Ticket Holder' for an annual pass or 'Free Adult Multi-Day Ticket Holder' for a 14-day pass.

Königsschlösser pass holders choose 'Free Adult BSV Card Holder' and pay the €2.50 online fee. Bring your pass to the castle entrance. The Palace Administration's annual tickets page excludes Hohenschwangau Castle from annual and 14-day passes. The Königsschlösser pass does not cover entry to that castle either.

Be in the castle courtyard before the tour time printed on your ticket. The tour number appears on the monitor beside the turnstiles. The castle's opening hours page states that late arrivals cannot join the tour they have booked.

The 3 hour visit from the village adds a guide for the outdoor part. The uphill shuttle bus requires Marienbrücke to be open; both the bus and downhill horse carriage are included when operating. Transport queues still apply.

Both castle tickets are included in Neuschwanstein Premium Tour at €195, against €21 for Neuschwanstein Castle plus €11 for Linderhof Palace. The Munich coach trip lasts 10 hours 30 minutes, with up to 28 people. Choose the coach if you want to visit the palace too.

The castle's main gate and exterior grounds can be reached without a ticket. You need an admission ticket to enter the courtyard. The bridge needs no castle ticket and is about 45 minutes from car park P4 on foot, as the Marienbrücke page describes. In winter, snow and ice can close the bridge and stop the shuttle bus.

Why can I only select one Neuschwanstein Castle ticket online?

The Neuschwanstein Castle shop offers one ticket when 34 of the tour's 35 places have already been sold. The castle cannot exceed the tour's capacity. You need to select your whole party before choosing a tour time. Children and babies count towards the total and cannot be added after purchase.

Do babies and children need Neuschwanstein Castle tickets?

Children under 18 need their own Neuschwanstein Castle tickets, despite free admission. An online child's ticket still costs €2.50 because the booking fee applies. Babies and toddlers need tickets too. Add children when you buy the adults' tickets, using the children's menu below the adult selection.

Can I change or cancel my Neuschwanstein Castle online ticket?

Neuschwanstein Castle online tickets cannot be exchanged or returned, including the €23.50 adult ticket. The rule covers changes to the date, time or tour language. You accept these terms before placing your order. A late arrival also loses the booked tour, so reach the courtyard before the time printed on your ticket.

What should I do if Neuschwanstein Castle tickets are sold out online?

If Neuschwanstein Castle tickets are sold out online, try another date or look for additional tickets from 8:00. Extra tickets depend on availability.
